3:46am and I cant sleep....again and again and again

I cant sleep again, I don't know what it is, I am up at 1:30am every morning for the past week and cant go back to bed. I have tried everything from ambien to you name it I have popped it down with a glass of water. I cant sleep, I wonder it if just because court is getting close in Africa and I am getting the jitters and cant sleep and just need answers. I cant sleep not knowing the WHAT and the OK NOW WHATS NEXT? AND THE DATES? hate that part... so I am up again and I am not a tv person, I don't clean I have cleaning people, i hate to organize, I did throw a load of laundry in, I am updating pics on blog, but then what. Gosh I hate this, oh well, hopefully this is a sign that the courts will give me a date this week hee hee wishful thinking I know!
I need my baby girl to hold and that will help to sleep. Maybe this is her feeding time and this is her pattern and God is trying to get my use to it? Who knows its almost 4am I am coming up with anything at this point for goodness sake people ROLL with it!

Merlin has Nemo back...reunited and it feels so good

~ There, there, there. It's ok, Daddy's here, daddy's got you. I promise I will never let anything happen to you...Nemo.~ Merlin

Shawna and I noticed that Nemo's Dad (Merlin) was swimming around the tank all alone and looking so sad. We found out Merlin had "passed away" and Nemo had been lonely. Shawna told the school that clown fish like to be in pairs so we decided to donate a Nemo and a Dory. Nemo arrived a few nights ago and I snapped a few pics. Dory should come this week!

SO I know wipe the tears away, Merlin and Nemo are back together again!

Count Down To The Courts Opening Up In Addis Ababa

"How much of human life is lost in waiting"
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

We are all anxiously waiting in the adoption world for the courts to open back up after their holiday/rain season in which they close their courts. No dates have been handed out for a few months, we have all been on pins and needles because this lets us know when we are represented at court, and when we will be flying. Normally they say 3-4 weeks after the court date is given but I have seen sooner. I am hoping for a fly date for end of October of November sometime. It would be nice if Shawna was not in Uganda so she could go with Jon and I on the trip there. I don't know if putting in for a son will slow down our process, make it to where our court date is later, and we wont get Aslynn until a later date. If this is the case, I am going to take it as a sign from God that it was not meant to be to bring 2 home and know that Aslynn is the one we get alone.

The experience alone going to the orphanage will be amazing, the country, the place we will be staying at, the town Addis Ababa, the history, etc etc... a trip of a life time and also bring home our daughter for sure and possibly a son. YES I will have my hands full, but in a good way!

Logan and Makenzie and excited. They love kids and to have more kids to play with, what fun.

We will see... today is the 27th of Sept 2008 and we have 4 more days until Oct 1st, 2008. The adoption agency will start passing out court dates, but wow it will be NUTS as its been SO back logged from these passed months and think of ALL the agencies, all the families, all the kids, etc etc... who knows what # we are in line! Hopefully Radu (my adoption wonder man) can work his magic! Keep us in your prays

Pottery Barn Clocks..A Must Buy For The Day

Time is what we want most, but... what we use worst. ~William Penn

Last night I could not sleep, and I mean NOT sleep, I think maybe 2 hr at the max and that was getting up a few times. I came across a fellow adoptive mom's blog (Erin) and she mentioned this Africa Clock from PB. So since I was online anyway I looked it up. LOW AND BEHOLD.....

OK BRACE YOURSELF PEOPLE... did not not have the 1 clock she mentioned in the shape of Africa for Aslynn but they had a clock in the shape of American for Logan (he was born here) and a clock in the shape of Italy for Makenzie (as she was born in Italy) how Ironic is that.

OK HOW MUCH HAS I BEEN RAISING A STINK STINK SINK, Asking God to give me a sign (which is NOT his responsibility to do so at all) that I should be adopting and this will be the BEST thing that ever happened for me and my family. BUT HELLO.. if you all know and HELLO even if you read my little blurb to the side I even mention my whole Pottery Barn Addiction, my whole house is Pottery Barn, I have my own, RED PHONE at the company when I call the 800 #... and a parking spot for me at Fashion square.

SO today I must order these clocks. They are adorable. Wanted to share. Thanks Erin...

Today will be a super cleaning out the garage Saturday, I need to get our 3rd car garage organized, cleaned out and in top top shape. I want to get things in order, I am in a MOOD, and when I am in these moods JON grabs them while he can... hee heee

Tues New Pictures of Aslynn

Tues Afternoon on my blackberry I got a photo from the agency of a updated picture of Aslynn our adopted daughter in Ethiopia. Breaks my heart how her arms and legs looks like bones, and they covered her body with a cloth. Her express is one like the other with her tongue out, gasping for good? or excited that someone picked her up for a picture? held her for a brief moment, a little contact or touch?

I was so excited to see her as she has gotten so tall, but on the other hand she has gotten so thin and her hair so short. I am now just wanting and counting until the courts open so we get a date and hopefully fly before the new year to go and get her. Jon and I also put in a request for a son, we decided that since we were there getting Aslynn that if a little boy was available we would get him also if it did not mess up with the schedule of picking her up as her health has not been well and in the pictures you can see it. We will see how it plays out as of course it is all in Gods hands. I will keep everyone posted. YES I know I must be crazy with 4 kids, but yeah, everything is possible if you have God on your side, and I have a great support team and people (shawna) that give me positive encouragement, so we will see how it plays out. Keep us in your prays.

I would post a picture of our daughter but per regulations of Ethiopia, we cant post a pic of our children until after the final court date. But take it from me she is soooo cute and pretty, bit eyes, smile, nice round head, cute wavy hair, light fair skin, and just needs a big bow! You know how I love my bows!!!!

Interesting from the Times:" Why Africa Is Still Starving"
Hunger has swept East Africa this year, spurred by poor rains and rising food prices. The U.N. estimates that 14 million people urgently need food aid, including 2.6 million in Somalia and more than 1 million in Kenya. In Ethiopia, 4.6 million people are at risk, and 75,000 children have severe acute malnutrition. Nearly a quarter-century ago, an outright famine led to Live Aid, an international fund-raising effort promoted by rock stars, which produced an outpouring of global generosity: millions of tons of food flooded into the country. Yet, ironically, that very generosity may have contributed to today's crisis.
Over time, sustained food aid creates dependence on handouts and shifts focus away from improving agricultural practices to increase local food supplies. Ethiopia exemplifies the consequences of giving a starving man a fish instead of teaching him to catch his own. This year the U.S. will give more than $800 million to Ethiopia: $460 million for food, $350 million for HIV/AIDS treatment — and just $7 million for agricultural development. Western governments are loath to halt programs that create a market for their farm surpluses, but for countries receiving their charity, long-term food aid can become addictive. Why bother with development when shortfalls are met by aid? Ethiopian farmers can't compete with free food, so they stop trying. Over time, there's a loss of key skills, and a country that doesn't have to feed itself soon becomes a country that can't. All too often, its rulers use resources elsewhere — Ethiopia has one of Africa's largest armies.
Why do we get aid so wrong? Because it feels so right. "The American people," says U.S. ambassador to Ethiopia Donald Yamamoto, "are simply not going to sit tight while they see children dying." Nor should they: a starving man needs to be saved first, before he can be taught to fish — or farm. But as the world rallies again to Ethiopia's aid, donors face a dilemma. "We're not getting to the real problem," says Yamamoto.
What would? Ethiopia thought it had found one answer. In 2005 a $1.4 billion five-year program identified 7.3 million Ethiopians unable to live without free food and gave them jobs in rural projects, such as roads and irrigation. The idea was to create livelihoods as well as to save lives. It was working, slowly. By this year, says a Western economist familiar with the effort, "a few thousand" had left the program and were making it on their own. Then came the double blow of drought and soaring food prices. Of the 7.3 million, 5.4 million suddenly needed extra food aid. The sobering lesson: even the best efforts to eliminate hunger are expensive, slow and uncertain of success. Depressing as it may be, this may not be the last time Ethiopia needs help.

The Singing Butler

Do we all have our singing butler? Sheltering us from something?

This Summer at the beach house this painting grabbed my attention. I don't know if its because of the 2 people in love dancing on the beach, the butlers with their umbrellas covering them as they do their forbidden dance, or just the colors....but it sparked my attention. I love art work, but to hang it on my walls takes a lot.

I tracked town this pieces. Not from target or any old place, Z-gallerie, Courtesy or Brecken driving and getting it for me. And I just redid my guest room, its so cute with these blue and white stripped curtains that go with the pottery barn classic bedding monogrammed all with a "L" of course. I had my handy man bill spend 3 day with my little projects (maybe my nest mood for the adoption) and panting the guest bedroom a navy blue ( I will take pics) was one of them. I could tell he hated it. Bummer for him, as I wont paint :)

I still need to get Makenzie's new pics on here of her room, Aslynn's room (yes that's the babies name, unless we change it) and the guest room, plus some randoms for the week.

Have a good night. 2 am and of course cant sleep.

RID'EM COWBOY

“You can tell a true cowboy by the type of horse that he rides”- Cowboy Proverb quote

I am having a baby shower for my friend this weekend and the theme is "western." So of course I have all this western decor around the house. Logan finds the hat and is in the backyard on his ride toy doing donuts in the grass, flipin his hat around and acting like a cowboy on a machine! It was so stinkin funny I had to snap some pictures. MR PERSONALITY LATELY! WOW HUH!

Watch out world, Logan is coming out of his shell and he is going to rock Arizona... and maybe even other states xoxo
